To celebrate the contributions of Americans of African descent, RECS Pines used the bulletin board platform to create visual lessons and messages as part of their Black History Month celebration. Each grade level was given a topic such as arts, education, sports, colleges, etc., and each classroom chose individuals or organizations within that topic to create bulletin boards that were informative and paid tribute to those individuals and organizations.

Students and staff were able to observe the bulletin boards while transitioning throughout the day. These bulletin boards helped students learn about the different areas of contributions and achievements of many African Americans.

Other Black History Month activities included daily Black History Month trivia questions during the morning announcements and a Soul Food Feast for staff. Students and staff learned and shared a lot to celebrate Black History Month.
