Renaissance Charter Schools at Pines has been awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) Grant Program to provide an after-school academic and enrichment program for free to 150 at-risk students in Grades K-8. The goal of the program is to provide students extended learning opportunities outside of the regular school day in order to enhance academic growth. Students that are selected to participate in the program will receive tutoring/homework help, academic project based learning activities, and attend personal enrichment programs.

The program at RECS Pines is called PINES Future Citizens. Students will be instructed by certified classroom teachers for tutoring in Language Arts and Math. Science tutoring will also be offered to students in Grades 5 & 8. Project-based learning activities will have students participating in hands-on assignments that will supplement the Florida Standards that they are currently working on in their classrooms. Each student will have the opportunity to select a personal enrichment class, such as Robotics, Cooking, or Journalism, to work on daily at the end of their schedule. Additionally, students will participate in a physical education period every week to promote a healthy and activity lifestyle.

For the 2018-2019 school year, 21st CCLC at Pines, also known as Pines Future Citizens, will provide after school services Monday through Friday ( 5 days per week) from dismissal until 6 pm for registered students in grades K-8. The program is contracted to operate for 172 days pending any unscheduled or emergency school closures.
